Vivera Retainers

What are Vivera retainers?

Vivera retainers are made with the same state-of-the-art technology as Invisalign aligners. This involves using 3D digital imaging, proprietary thermoplastic material, and advanced fabrication technology. This creates a strong retainer with an extremely precise fit and a smooth finish that grips firmly and feels comfortable.

Re-ordering the Vivera retainers is very convenient if there have been no changes to the teeth since the last order. We can simply request Invisalign to produce a new set of retainers from the previously saved file.

Vivera retainers always come in sets of 3 retainers (3 upper and 3 lower retainers).

How do we make Vivera retainers?

At Pearl Dental Clinic we provide our retainers using the Invisalign iTero 5D digital scanning system rather than using traditional impressions and moulds.

The Invisalign iTero handheld wand takes a digital, 3D image of your teeth, preventing the need for traditional impressions which can cause some patients to gag. You can look at the iTero 3D image of your teeth on the screen in real time.

Rather than posting impressions to the lab to be scanned which could take weeks, the digital image is electronically sent to the Invisalign lab immediately.

These digital scans don’t need to be rescanned, so by removing the ‘clay modelling’ step, we have greatly improved the accuracy and speed of your retainer treatment.

Why is wearing your retainer important?

After completing Invisalign treatment, wearing a retainer is crucial for several reasons:

Maintains your Invisalign results

Your Invisalign treatment worked to give you a straighter, healthier smile. Wearing your retainer preserves this result, ensuring the time and money invested in treatment aren’t wasted.

Allows bones and tissues to stabilise

Your teeth need time to settle into their new positions, and the bone and tissue around them continue to adjust after treatment ends. Wearing a retainer helps stabilise the teeth as these structures solidify around the new alignment.

Ensures long-term oral health

Properly aligned teeth are easier to clean, reducing the risk of cavities, gum disease, and wear. Keeping your teeth straight with a retainer promotes better oral hygiene and overall dental health.

Prevents further orthodontic treatment

Neglecting to wear your retainer could result in your teeth shifting, potentially requiring further orthodontic work down the line. This can be avoided by wearing the retainer as directed by your orthodontist.

Retainer wear schedule

Orthodontists often recommend full-time retainer wear for the first few months post-treatment, followed by part-time wear (typically at night) thereafter. It’s essential to follow this schedule to ensure long-lasting results.
